Škoda Elroq 85 test drive in Sarajevo – Electric car experiences between the city and the mountains
Sarajevo – a city that connects East and West like no other place in Europe. Anyone who travels here is immersed in a mixture of history, cultures and cuisine. You don’t have to travel all the way to Istanbul to experience this symbiosis – Sarajevo offers it up close. What’s more, the city is surrounded by wild nature, mountains, rivers and dense forests. The perfect starting point to put the new Škoda Elroq 85 through its paces.
First impressions: Strong character design
It stood in front of me in Timiano green: angular lines, narrow matrix LEDs, a striking air intake and 21-inch alloy wheels in matt black – the Elroq makes an impression without appearing arrogant. It’s more like it’s saying: “I’m ready to take you anywhere.”

Even the first few kilometers through the narrow streets of the old town made it clear how agile this compact E-SUV is. Despite its self-confident appearance, it is easy to steer, remains quiet and immediately conveys a feeling of safety. As soon as we headed out into the surrounding countryside, it was able to show what it’s really made of:
- 210 kW (286 PS) take the Elroq from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.6 seconds.
- In the mountains around Sarajevo, I immediately felt how effortlessly he masters even steep climbs.
Range in the mountainous terrain of Bosnia
Bosnia and Herzegovina means hairpin bends, mountain passes and meters of altitude – a real test for an electric car. Despite temperatures of 34 degrees and non-stop air conditioning, our consumption was only 16.8 kWh/100 km. The range? Around 520 km, even uphill. Impressive when you consider that the official figure is a maximum of 581 km.
And if electricity is needed: With up to 175 kW charging power, the battery is back to 80% in just under half an hour. In the meantime, enjoy a coffee with a view of the mountains – and off you go.

Comfort and sustainability on the move
On winding country roads towards Bjelašnica or Igman, two former Olympic mountains, you realize: Škoda has thought of the driver here. The head-up display shows the most important information directly in the windshield, the seats (with massage function!) make even long journeys relaxing. There is more than enough space – whether for luggage, camera equipment or a picnic in the countryside.
Inside, Škoda relies on sustainable materials without it feeling like a compromise. It looks high-quality, feels pleasant and fits perfectly with a car that represents the future of electromobility.
Conclusion: Škoda Elroq experiences in Sarajevo
The Škoda Elroq 85 is more than just an electric SUV. It is a versatile companion that can play to its strengths perfectly in a city like Sarajevo: agile in the old town, powerful in the mountains, efficient on long journeys. It shows that sustainable travel with an electric car is not only environmentally friendly, but can also be emotional and adventurous.
For me, the combination of Sarajevo, the wild nature around it and this car was simply perfect – an experience that makes me want more.
