A nymph on four wheels – with the new Audi Q3 SUV to Nymphenburg Palace
As a convinced tester of pure electric cars, I would never have thought that a mild hybrid could fascinate me so much – but the new Audi Q3 SUV with an efficient and partially electrified combustion engine with mild hybrid technology won me over on my drive at the IAA. A driving experience that merges the past and the future.

A nymph on four wheels
It is a nymph on four wheels that takes me to places of grace and beauty – like Nymphenburg Palace itself. This magnificent building in the Bavarian capital was commissioned in 1664 by Elector Ferdinand Maria of Bavaria and his wife Henriette Adelaide of Savoy to celebrate the birth of their son Maximilian II. Emanuel.

Back then, noble carriages with magnificent horses drove up here – today, the new, innovative SUV from Audi is parked there, only with a little more horsepower.
I’m sure that the newborn Elector and his parents would have been more than pleased with this vehicle!
Comfort meets high-tech
As soon as I got in, I felt safe and secure in the S-Line seats, surrounded by state-of-the-art displays: a curved panoramic display with 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit plus and 12.8-inch MMI touch display creates a digital stage for navigation, vehicle functions and entertainment.
During the drive, I was surrounded by calmness and serenity – paired with direct responsiveness and impressive dynamics.

Light that speaks
One highlight: the digital matrix LED headlightswhich not only emit light, but also project symbols – such as warning signs for slippery roads – and thus actively communicate with the surroundings.
The Coming Home/Leaving Home light show when getting in and out of the car adds a touch of magic.

But there is much more to this light show than aesthetics – it is intelligent technology that redefines safety. While driving, the car projects two fine lines onto the road, the so-called orientation light. It helps to keep the vehicle precisely in lane and conveys an intuitive feeling of stability, especially on country roads. If the system detects a highway, the light pattern changes dynamically: the lane light illuminates the road in a targeted manner, assists with safe lane changes and even indicates the desired direction by flashing light edges. Other road users can therefore see where the vehicle is heading at an early stage – an inconspicuous but effective safety bonus.

The system thinks for itself: It recognizes pedestrians, cyclists or animals that might cross the road at dusk – and gives the driver valuable seconds to react thanks to precise illumination. If the outside temperature drops below four degrees, a small snowflake appears on the road: a discreet, projected indication of possible slippery conditions.
“Good light means I can see more, be seen better and can react more quickly to any situation,” says Michael Kruppa, lighting developer at Audi. The digital lighting technology of the new Q3 combines safety, comfort and emotion – it not only makes driving at night safer, but also more sensual.

Space miracle & flexibility
The Q3 is also surprisingly adaptable in terms of its space concept:
If you fold down the rear seats, the trunk volume increases to 1,293 liters.
Even I – three times – would have found room in it! The seats can also be moved variably, which creates additional legroom.

Sustainably designed interior
Audi also proves that design and responsibility are not mutually exclusive in the interior. There is a total of nine equipment packages to choose from – and many of them consistently use sustainable materials. Fast-growing, hard-wearing wood is used for the wood applications. The fabrics with names such as “Passage” or “Imprint” are made from 100 percent recycled polyester. All textile and microfiber covers are designed as mono-materials – this means they can later be recycled by type without leaving any waste behind. This significantly reduces the carbon footprint and valuable resources remain in the cycle.
Even the floor mats tell a sustainable story: they are made from Econyl – a completely recycled nylon fiber made from old fishing nets, carpet remnants and industrial waste. A small but effective contribution to a cleaner world. The interior of the Audi Q3 also makes a statement for future-oriented thinking and responsible use of materials and energy.

My personal highlight: Trained parking
Trained parking is almost like magic: the car stores a complete parking path and then carries out the maneuver completely independently – precisely and reliably.
My conclusion:
The Audi Q3 SUV is a mid-size SUV that combines the baroque splendor of the past with the innovation of today.
Like the nymphs who once gave their name to the castle, it combines lightness, elegance and closeness to nature – and takes us to places full of history and beauty in style.
